Music Therapy

Music therapy is considered a “related service” under the Individuals with Disabilities Act. That’s why at Habilitation Services we have a credentialed music therapist! Our latest addition in our Columbus clinic offers yet another dimension of service to our special needs clients in the domains of behavioral, social, psychological, communicative, physical, sensory-motor, and cognitive functioning.

Shown to be effective, music therapy provides a non-threatening environment while it maintains attention to the task in a positive way. It provides an alternative for nonverbal and verbal individuals to express themselves and to develop appropriate emotional expression, in a structured and cognitively organized manner.

The music therapist will establish individualized treatment plans following an evaluation that can further support goals being addressed in speech and occupational therapy.
