Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is a treatment strategy that can be applied to a child, adult or family to promote an individual’s greatest potential for independence by developing physical skills that will aid in daily living.
Occupational Therapist strive to help children in the mastery of developmental milestones, feeding sensitivities, handwriting and fine motor skills, or to improve sensory integration (one’s ability to process and make sense of what one hears, sees, touches, tastes and smells).
Occupational therapists pride themselves in their ability to establish individual plans and treat specific disorders. Disorders may include autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, mental retardation, down syndrome, fragile x syndrome, learning disabilities, developmental delays, sensory defensiveness and integration difficulties and attention deficit disorders.
Services are available at our Columbus clinic and a variety of other settings in Columbus and Cincinnati areas including schools and early intervention programs, group homes, ICFMRS county boards of MRDD, vocational training centers and day programs.
